Queenstown & Wanaka Wheelie Bins to Change

Queenstown Council have announced from mid 2019 all current bins and recycle bins will be replaced with 3-bin of Yellow, Red and Blue. While the sizes are not yet confirmed, early indications are:
240L mixed recycling bin
140L glass recycling bin
140L refuse bin – with the possible options for residents to pay for larger sizes
In future there is also the potential the Queenstown Council will introduce an organics bin and this would be available at a size of 80L. This however may be 3-4 years away, if at all.
So if you are now considering one of our Wheelie Bin sheds, you need to take the above into consideration.
For our home we have decided to go for:
1 x 2-bin 140L
1 x 2 bin 240L
The above will provide for 4 bins in total and allow us to place them in different locations. Of course our 3-bin 240L option would be the obvious choice and we will worry about the organics bin later if that ever happens.
